Helheim Island: The Last Bastion is a 3800km map made by Keirox Custom Maps, one of the first map makers of Rust’s history. Vanilla by default, moddable as you wish. The map is being worked on actively and getting updates regulary.
Welcome to Helheim Island: The Last Bastion, my latest map. I’ve put all my love into this one. The wait has been long but it’s worth it! The map is entirely custom and everything has been done by my hands (even the trees and rocks, yes !)
1.9 : This update bring something that many was waiting for : the continuation of the Laboratory, the end game of Helheim Island. Not everything has been implemented, but you can already see the start of the real challenge coming up. Players will be able to go deeper in the laboratory in a next gen design, fresh area, and very dangerous one. You’ll find a lot of heavy scientists in there. You can also see the environment interacting with your actions (electricity wise). At the end of it, you’ll find a portal ! But the portal is not working yet. The portal is meant to be working (yes) and bring the player into a spaceship themed area, to discover what really happened to Helheim (where the virus came from) Patience, it’s coming. This is just the beginning !
The map has its own lore, but also follows the theme of Rust. The map will also provide the most scary experience you can have on Rust, but at the same time, beautiful gameplay. Insane custom monuments such as crashed planes, Hospitals, Cathedral, Laboratory, Helheim Powerplant, Helheim Airport, and much more, including custom caves, mines, cargo ship passing in the middle of the map, custom safezone (The Refuge)…
The map respects as much as possible the rules of “Vanilla”, however, you can mod it as you wish! This map includes a few zombies in some monuments by default. The package includes 2 map files, one with the default setup NPCs, and one without NPCs, so you can use your own bot plugin.
The map is optimized for performance. Prefabs count: 41500
This map is protected by a provided plugin. You can still edit the map with the provided files.

We absolutely love your work and maps man! Keep up the great work! In our travels we found a couple things that are off. The Harbor is levitating a little bit off the ground by like a foot. Also, in the same monument, one of the tugboats is land locked. Not sure on the trapped tugboat if that is something you can help or is built into the new layout. Fantastic job though! We love the map! I absolutely recommend this map to everybody! He did a perfect job in the desert too!

Due to the world revamp, caves has been reworked. Some of them are not repaired yet and will come back in next updates.

Added- Fix for MLRS not working (again, and hopefully final fix)
- Fixed Horse dealer not selling saddles by adding a vending machine instead
- Double Bradley are back at the Airport.
- Reduced The Refuge Safezone radius
- Catacombs decorative barrels can no longer be opened. Previously they were count as player entities and you could loot them and put loot inside, not anymore as those as been replaced with another model.
- Added more loot to catacombs, however, zombies in this area now deal more damage and have more health.
- Updated BotReSpawn data. Previously bots were not respawning after a server restart and you had to manualy turn autospawn to true everytime. They are now set to autospawn directly in the file and will spawn automatically.
Note : Laboratory continuation was planned for this update but is delayed as some issues were found. Another update will come in the next days to add it, and it shouldnt require wipe.

What will happen with my plugins that look for basic monuments? For example, I use ExplosivesBox, which add a Boom Box on random monuments, and VehicleDrops, which adds a custom vending machine to the Outpost, is it safe to assume these will not work on this map ?
Hello, yes maps will be updated to match with the new update. For the plugins attached to the basic monuments, i guess they would be need some adjustements, some plugins look for monument names, and then they have presets coordinates by the plugin maker. If they allow you to change those settings it would probably work
It’s strange that other maps have been updated and this one hasn’t. I also understand that it is a lot of work, also for the other developers and they have updating the map. This is an expensive map, which currently doesn’t work. I do expect that an expensive map like this can be updated faster. Hellheim is beautiful map i love it. It takes to long for a expensive map to update.
Map FAQ – How do I host this .zip/.7z file I just purchased on my server?
• First, you want to unzip the file. You can do so by just double-clicking it to open, then drag the contents to the desired location (you may need to install an external unzipping software if you don’t already have one)
• Next you will find either a structure of folders or just the .map file itself (it’s the important one).
• Once the .map is uploaded to dropbox simply copy the share link attached to it.
• You will first start off by uploading the .map file to an online hosting provider, I’ll include dropbox since it’s easy to get started with.
• Once you’ve copied the link paste it into your server’s startup .bat (batch) file. (You can leave the worldsize/seed. Custom maps override proc gen parameters)
• Example “levelurl “https:// www dropbox dot com/s/sdfagbragae/testmapname.map?dl=1”
• Make SURE the dl=0 at the end is changed to dl=1 otherwise players won’t be able to join!
• Now just start your server and it’ll boot right up! Below I’ll attach a video that goes more in-depth on hosting custom maps vs proc gen maps since it’s a tad different

• Installation is not included with any products on the site, however, if needed we may assist if you reach out to our support.
• If the product contains a plugin file (.cs) it’s advised to have it installed prior to booting your server with the map you purchased
Currently all products on Lone.Design will be contained within a zipped file which is the .7z or .zip that you see. I believe windows 10 and up can unzip on its own without 3rd party tools, but in that case, if you’re unfamiliar with zipped files here are 2 programs I recommend to easily unzip zipped files.
