Rust Satellite Dish Guide (Sat Dish)

The Rust Satellite Dish Guide & Tips!

Assuming this monument was designed to be an abandoned research/communications location on the naked island of Rust. Though it’s a mid-tier monument this one is a great place to visit as a newer or experienced player as it often is not highly contested compared to other monuments like the Sphere Tank. Let’s go over what all it has, what it requires, and tips for when you visit.

Location

The Rust Satellite Dish (Sat Dish) monument stands out on the in-game Rust map. As mentioned in other guides, monument placement is procedurally generated on normal Rust maps so its location on the map will always vary from server to server and wipe to wipe. Generally, the location will be somewhere centralized, usually a good distance away from the spawn beach location.

Requirements

Before exploring this monument it does have radiation, so gear up with at least 10 points worth of radiation protection. A simple protective kit will do the trick such as full burlap, or a hazmat suit, keeping you safe while you explore. In total you’ll need to bring the following:

  • Clothing (Radiation Protection)
  • Fuse x1
  • Green Keycard x1

Examples of suitable clothing to counter the radiation of 10

Each satellite dish is on its own platform for lack of better words, and there are very simple and short tunnels underneath that are great for sneaky moves or finding that one hidden brown crate. The puzzle for this monument is simpler than some others. Both main puzzle key points reside in the two sheds at this monument. One includes the fusebox and the other includes the loot which includes 2 crate spawns and 1 blue keycard desk spawn.

Loot Breakdown

There are around seven regular or possibly military crate spawn points scattered across the monument, with a couple more in the puzzle room. You’ll also find plenty of barrels and food crates – perfect for bundling up on scrap, low-grade fuel, and food.

Utilities

  • Recycler: Tucked under the base of a destroyed satellite dish, it’s great for breaking down items into resources.
  • Research Table: Hidden in a partially stripped-down satellite, it’s a key spot for improving your gear.
  • Phone: In the central parking area, this lets you connect with other players or places in the game.

Tips & Tricks

The Rust Satellite Dish is a great starting point for newer players for some simple mid-tier loot and understanding its rather easy puzzle is one helpful element to this monument, however, understanding a few tips that can be utilized here can potentially give you an upper hand in gunfights and time-pressing matters.

  1. The electrical wiring indicates the puzzle location points for ease of direction.
  2. Utilize the surrounding health boxes around the edge to get more food to heal up.
  3. You can land and minicopter on the top of the satellites for a pretty unique vantage point.
  4. The fences can be 100% shot through and provide no protection against bullets.
  5. You can climb into the broken satellite structure and get some unique angles and hiding spots
  6. You can potentially utilize ziplines to get into this monument quite quickly if you’re a fair distance away.

Prevent Build Distance

Remember, there’s a no-build zone around the monument. This prevents players from setting up bases too close and dominating the area.

Conclusion

The Rust Satellite Dish is a pretty powerful monument to run, especially due to its compact size in relation to the loot it includes. The puzzle is very simple and short and generally, this monument is not one of the most heavily contested monuments like Sewer Branch or the Sphere Tank as mentioned.
